Syndax is dedicated to the development of mechanistically driven drug combinations for the treatment of cancer. The company’s strategy is to commercialize novel drug candidates, such as the histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, with the potential for an improved therapeutic index when used in combination with targeted therapies. As a result, Syndax is interested in acquiring novel products as well as strategically partnering with pharmaceutical companies with interesting therapeutics for the development of novel cancer therapy regimens.
In 2007, Syndax signed a licensing agreement with Bayer Schering Pharma for worldwide rights for the development and commercialization of SNDX-275, formerly MS-275, in oncology. Syndax is responsible for the clinical development and commercialization of SNDX-275, which will focus initially on certain solid tumors and hematologic cancers.
In 2005, Syndax licensed intellectual property from the Salk Institute, claiming the use of HDAC inhibitors in the regulation of nuclear receptor gene expression for the treatment of diseases such as cancer.
Syndax holds 36 patents (issued or pending) related to composition of matter, manufacturing, combinations (e.g., nuclear receptor ligands, EGFR inhibitors, etc.), methods of use, and diagnostics.
